The Bandage Comes Off
At the beach a couple weeks ago, Jarom was lugging around a bocce ball on the grass. Unfortunately, he tripped and fell, managing to land in the only narrow patch of cement in the entire yard. His hand hit the pavement and the bocce ball hit his thumb, bursting it open and crushing the bone. The worst thing about the event is that it was his thumb sucking thumb. The hour and twenty minute drive home was one continuous wail because every time he tried to console himself, he'd see the bandage on his thumb and realize he couldn't suck it. He made do with a two month sized pacy when we finally got home. We were stupid and didn't take him in for stitches. A week later, his thumb was still bleeding every time we took the splint and bandage off. But hurray, hurray, today the splint came off and instead of being purple all over, there's only a small purple spot at the base of his nail and the wound has closed. And as an extra bonus, the whole episode seems to have cured the boy of his thumb sucking habit. Now if we can break him from sucking his index finger...

Poor Jarom! I'm glad everything seems to be healing nicely.
Poor guy! Isn't it funny that doctor's families are the last ones to actually go to see a doctor? Tanner, who turned 2 a few months ago still LOVES his newborn pacifiers and climbs up on the counter to get them out of the cupboard every chance he gets!
