In the middle of July our stake Young Men and Young Women participated in a three day pioneer trek up North. Matt was asked to come along as the "doc" along with a couple other doctors in the stake. Matt's been planning this thing for weeks, taking delight in looking up old time remedies. He learned that the pioneers used to put honey on sunburn and then discovered that thanks to the long sleeves and pants/dresses, none of his kids got sunburn so he couldn't try it out up there. Nobody had to make an ER visit this time, either. Other than a little heat exhaustion, the trip went smoothly--and he hasn't stopped talking about it. Having just been to Nauvoo, it really brought home how important the Gospel was to these people. They left us an incredible legacy and everyone up there had their testimonies strengthened. The kids and adults came back on fire and it is contagious. I'm thankful for my own testimony--thankful that I can find out what's truth and what's not in this crazy mixed up world we live in.
